CHORAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Bach Collegium San Diego's annual Choral Internship Outreach Program selects undergraduate choral students from a local college or university into a collaboration on a Mainstage performance of iconic repertoire. This provides an opportunity to perform alongside Bach Collegium San Diego in a week long intensive rehearsal process leading to performances.

Singing the Martin Mass with BCSD was a privilege and an honor. Working with such brilliant musicians reawakened my passion for choral singing and reminded me why I was majoring in music.
— Zlatoslav Sokolov, SDSU

The number of students selected is through an audition process based on the repertoire chosen, and a particular school’s available students. This program offers choral students in their formative years the opportunity to work alongside some of the finest vocalists working today.

One of the essential elements of the internship experience beyond partnering with amazing musicians was the pace and precision of the professional rehearsal atmosphere. For collegiate singers, who rely on weekly rehearsals to prepare for concerts, combining with BCSD for the short and focused production week was an excellent window into the life of the professional musician and provided a standard to strive for in their musical preparation.
